useful VRML-plugins

for Raumwerk Dortmund, a customer of zwex | internet, handgestrickt had to make a list of all useful VRML-plugins on different operating systems. the list is not long, but all the plugins have a high quality and status. some of them also support X3D, which is, to describe it short and dirty, VRML in XML.

Cortona VRML Client
is the one handgestrickt used for developing the Raumwerk VRML-engine. it runs on Windows, Mac OS 8.x , Mac OS 9.x , Mac OSX and PocketPC and supports X3D and plugins.

Blaxxun Contact
theoretically runs on any Java-platform, but was primarily developed for Windows. it uses DirectX or OpenGL.

Octaga Player for VRML and X3D
is available for Windows and Linux. the developers say it is the fastest plugin on todays market.

flux Player
player made by Toni Parisi, who helped develop VRML in the old days. runs on Windows with DirectX.
